Published in The Sierra Vista Herald (Feb. 2, 2013):

Kyle John Riley was born June 20, 1985, in Eden, N.C.

He was tragically and unexpectedly taken from us on Jan. 30, 2013, in Tucson, Ariz., at the young age of 27.

Kyle did a lot during his short time with us, always keeping his love of family and a positive attitude a top priority even during life's struggles. He was a kind-hearted, compassionate, respectful, fun-loving young man. His fierce independence and individuality were a trademark of how Kyle lived his life. He taught those whose lives he touched to not take life too seriously. From a young age his love of animals was clearly evident when he'd bring home stray/neglected animals to care for.

Kyle grew up in Tombstone, Ariz., later living in Sierra Vista and Tucson. He enjoyed participating in sports while he was growing up, even starting T-ball at age 5 with a broken arm. His interest in sports continued as an adult. Many folks were delighted with his antics when Kyle and his three buddies performed as the "Junior Vigilantes" on the streets of Tombstone. Kyle was often photographed in full costume, a role he thoroughly enjoyed, and later would be pictured in magazines. He brought a lot of smiles to the tourists of Tombstone.

Kyle is survived by his mother, Mary Riley of Sierra Vista; grandmother, Pauline; aunt, June; uncle, Mike (Lisa); his cousin, Jimmy; godmother, Robin; his favorite bulldog, Swamper; and numerous other family members and friends. Kyle made many, many friends throughout his life.

Funeral services are Thursday, Feb. 7, at Lady of Lourdes Church in Benson, Ariz. Visitation will start at 11:30 a.m. and rosary will be at 12:30 p.m., with funeral Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 1 p.m. Luncheon and a time of remembrance immediately afterwards.

Kyle John was taken from us way too early in life, and his presence is sorely missed by everyone who loved him.

CAUSE OF DEATH: UNSOLVED MURDER.
