Mr. Johnson died April 26, 2010, in ETMC.
He was born April 1, 1926, in Frankston. He was a lifelong resident of Cherokee County, served in the U.S. Army and was a member of Corinth Missionary Baptist Church. He was retired from the city of Jacksonville after more than 15 years and enjoyed fishing, gardening and maintaining his yard.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Elmo Johnson Jr.; and two daughters, Velma and Margie Johnson.
Survivors include spouse, Melvia Johnson of Bullard; three sons, Samuel Johnson of Tyler, Bobby Johnson of Cleveland, and Billy Johnson of Duncanville; five daughters, Cora Nelson of Tyler, Vera and Cassandra Johnson, both of Dallas, and Stella and Pamela Johnson, both of Bullard; two brothers, Elret Johnson of Compton Calif., Roger Johnson of Los Angeles, Calif.; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be 6 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
