Phyllis married Lewis W. Lafuse on Feb. 6, 1946 and he preceded her in death on June 3, 2000. She later married John Carson on Nov. 17, 2001 and he preceded her in death on May 28, 2008. Phyllis was a housewife and mother of five children and was an active partner in the family farming operation. She was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church and was a charter member of the Mixers Home Ec Club and was very active with the Rush County Fair, particularly in painting and other activities.
Phyllis leaves behind sons, J. Michael Lafuse of Carthage, Craig L. Lafuse of Carmel, and Kim B. Lafuse and wife Deb of Lafayette; daughters, Melinda E. and husband Richard Conklin and Suzanne J. Lafuse both of Rushville; eight grandchildren; three step grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and both husbands, Phyllis was preceded in death by one brother and three sisters.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 1, 2014 at Moster Mortuary, Rushville. Pastor Jan Dimick will preside. Friends are welcome to visit from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the mortuary.
Burial will be in Rushville's East Hill Cemetery.
