Mrs. Sarah Ann Lane, 81, resident of Decatur for the last five years, died in her home at 2566 East North Street, at 9 p.m. Friday, July 5, following a stroke with which she was stricken last Wednesday. She had been in ill health for several months.
She was born in Princeton, Indiana, August 1, 1854, the daughter of Alexander and Deborah Shoaf. She was married to Henry Lane in Indiana June 1873. Her husband died in 1920.
Before coming to Decatur, they lived in Wayne County and Oconee where they spent 15 years.
She leaves two sons, R. H. Lane of Decatur and V. A. Lane of Nokomis; two daughters, Mrs. Bertha Gifford of Mill Shoals and Mrs. Opal McPhail, Decatur, 19 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. She also leaves two sisters and one brother, Mrs. Etta Moreland, and Pearl Shoaf of Fairfield and Noah Shoaf of Mt. Vernon.
She was a member of the West Side Nazarene Church.
The body was removed to the Moran and Sons Funeral Home where services will be held in the chapel at 1 p.m. Sunday.
Burial will be made in Tennessee Cemetery, Oconee.
