Albert E. "Gene" VanBlaricom, 83, of East Hampton, passed away Monday (Sept. 19) at Middlesex Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Born Oct. 15, 1927 in Coatsville Missouri the son of the late George and Lena (Veach) VanBlaricom he was raised in Iowa along with his eleven brothers and sisters. Gene left home as a teenager to proudly serve his country in the Marine Corp. during World War II. During his time in France he had the privilege of serving as the body guard to the U.S. Ambassador to France. Upon completion of his military service he was employed as an Assistant Forman at EIS in Middletown for 30 years. He was a life member of the VFW and the American Legion in East Hampton. He was an avid N.Y. Yankees fan and enjoyed watching them on TV. Gene also enjoyed talking with his old friends especially at McDonald's and the Donut Shop. Gene's family meant the world to him, both here and in Iowa.

He was predeceased by eight of his brothers and sisters. Gene's family would like to thank the VNA and Middlesex Hospice for their compassionate care.
