Jonathan and Mary Rogers Russ spent some time in South Carolina as their son, John Russ (1802-1870/80) was born there according to 1850 Census.
Bladen Co., NC Deed Bk 11 pg. 535 and Deed Bk.11 pg. 540 - in 1825 places him in Crawley Swamp area which is north of Bladenboro, NC on/near Hwy 131. This most likely was land that had been patented by his father, William Russ. (Colony of NC 1765 - 1775 Abstracts of Land Patents Vol. 2 bk. A by Margaret M. Hofmann. #5286 pg. 398 William Russ 22 July 1774. 630 acres in Bladen on Crawleys Swamp, joining Stephen Bryan, John Dryden, T. Owen, Pine Logg Bay, B. Randal, and Edmund. Russ.
According to Mr. Herbert M. Russ of Teague, TX (1989), Jonathan and Mary Russ had 11 children. Jonathan (1774-1852) was a son of William Russ(1735-c.1814) and wife Ann.
