In 1779 he married Tabitha Perkins. They had 2 children.

Philemon married 2nd wife, Mary Shepard on Jan-1-1791, their children were:
1. Elizabeth H. m. Hubbard Scranton of Madison (correction sent 3-14 to attach parents)
2. Daniel (see below)
3. Abraham (see below)

Philemon and his family lived in the house that was his father Daniel's.

The "Family History and Genealogy of the Descendants of Robert Augur of New Haven Colony" Complied by Edwin Prosper Augur July 1904 has a short accounting of Philemon's life.
"Philemon was a farmer and somewhat prominent among his townsmen, having been chosen Lister (Assessor) 1805-1806 and one of a committee to look after the taking of oysters and clams from natural beds. He was a Revolutionary Soldier enlisted Apr. 1775 Co. 6 of General Wooster's Regiment, under Wm. Douglas of Northford, CT; serving 7 months 7 days; discharged Nov. 20, 1775. He enlisted Mar. 13, 1779, in Capt. Phineas Bradley's Co. of mattrosses(artillery) raised for the defense of New Haven at the time of Tryon's Invasion. He was stationed at New Haven, East Haven and West Haven. Discharged on Mar. 12, 1780, he enlisted as a Corporal in the State Guards under Gen. Waterbury Feb. 21, 1781 and discharged Aug. 1, 1781."

"The tract of land on the east side of New Haven Harbor (now Fort Hale Park), was purchased by the U.S. Government of Philemon Augur, Kneeland Townsend and Trueman Colt. Upon this tract, then known as King's Island, were erected the battery, magazine and barracks known as Fort Hale."

Philemon's Will was probated Aug. 24, 1826. He died Aug. 11, 1826 at age 72 EH Congregational. (73 on headstone)

Philemon's wife Mary out lived him and removed from the Old Congregational Stone Church in East haven, CT. June 29, 1827 by letter to the Church of Madison, CT; as recorded in their records. Mary died in Madison in 1831 at age 63.
