Surname derivation: "Wechnight".

Per 1850 Boonsboro, Maryland, census, Ann Maria was born ca. 1819/1820 in Pennsylvania, and her mother's name was Mary M. Wakenight; born ca. 1787 in Pennsylvania and died after 1860 in Washington County, Maryland. Ann Maria's father is not in the household in 1850. Anne had a brother, Abraham Wakenight, who was living in the household at the time of the 1850 census. Ann likely had another brother Jacob, who shows in the 1860 census living with Ann's mother Mary. The 1860, 1870 & 1880 censuses show Ann's birthplace as Pennsylvania.

An affidavit filed by Ann Maria for her husband's War of 1812 pension, states Henry and Ann were married in late 1853 instead of 1854. Ann Maria was the 2nd wife of Henry. Their marriage license was issued 7 Dec 1854, according to the County Clerk of Washington County, Maryland, who was making a written statement regarding the widower's pension dated, July 1883 (see attached certification letter).

Ann's pension application was originally rejected due to length of Henry's service being only 51 days (on or about the last day of August to October 31, 1814), as opposed to the 60 requirement. "His certificate of discharge being worn out or lost" was other information stated in the filing. Henry had served for a different person who was originally drafted, named David Spielman. The pension application is where the marriage date of Ann Maria and her maiden name as well as the death date of Henry's first wife was discovered.

Blessing" is found in the Pueblo, Colorado, City Directory, living on 2110 Cedar with his wife Martha.
