Mrs. Mary Helen Parr, age 86, of Golconda, IL, passed away at 3:15 a.m. on Tuesday, January 28, 2014 at Southgate Health Care Center.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 30, 2014 at Aikins-Farmer Funeral Home in Metropolis with Rev. Jerry Parr officiating. Burial will follow in Temple Hill Cemetery.
Mary was a member of Powers United Methodist Church and a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.
Mary is survived by her husband of over 70 years, Crait Parr; 5 children, Don Parr and wife Judy of Metropolis, Jerry Parr and wife Carol, Mike Parr and wife Lisa, Debbie Gallo and husband Ron, and Rick Parr and wife Carla all of Temple Hill, IL; 14 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Vera Kirkpatrick and husband Kirk and Verneita Simmons and husband Don; 1 brother, Joe LaRue and wife Dianna; sister-in-law, Earlene LaRue; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Nellie (Davis) LaRue; step-mother, Ruby LaRue; 1 brother, Charlie LaRue; one grandson, Kevin Parr.
Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, January 29, 2014 at the Aikins-Farmer Funeral Home.
