CLEARFIELD--Fred Clyde Walker, 80, former resident of Clearfield, died Tuesday after an extended illness. He passed away at the Utah State Hospital in Provo after being a resident there for many years due to the effects of a stroke.

He was born Oct. 16, 1874, in Kaysville, a son of James and Alice Townsend Walker.

On Sept. 2, 1897, he married Eva Alzina Call in the LDS Salt Lake Temple. He had been a farmer in Syracuse and Clearfield.

Mr. Walker had been an active worker in the LDS Church and was an elder in the Clearfield First Ward.

Surviving are two sons and four daughters: Clarence C. Walker, Roy; Don E. Walker, Washington Terrace; Mrs. James (Alice) Morgan, Layton; Mrs. Orlow (Ida) Brown, Mrs. Sidney (Almira) Sly, Mrs. Ben (Geneive) Yaunt all of Clearfield; 21 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers and one-half sister: Homer C. Walker, Ogden; and Joseph Walker, Salt Lake City; and Mrs. Emily Rampton, Syracuse.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 1 pm. in the Clearfield LDS First Ward, with Bishop Anthon O. Montgomery officiating.

Friends may call at the Sunset Mortuary Friday from 6 to 9 pm and Saturday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Brown, 975 S. State St., from 10 am until 12:30 pm.

Burial will be in the Kaysville-Layton Memorial Park.
