Carolyn Parks

Wenatchee, WA

Carolyn Parks, 73, of Wenatchee, WA, passed away peacefully on January 28, 2014, at Central Washington Hospital. She was born in Spokane, WA and attended Eastern Washington College of Education. She met the love of her life, Newton Parks, while at college. They married in 1960 and celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 2010. After marrying, they moved to Newt’s hometown of Wenatchee to join in the family business of orcharding and running Parks Fertilizer, Inc. They lived and worked in the Wenatchee Valley for over 50 years. Carolyn worked alongside her husband as the bookkeeper, accountant and office manager for both their orchard and Parks Fertilizer. She is remembered for her strong work ethic, big heart, deep value of giving and helping others, as well as her love of feeding people. Her sense of humor and ‘one-day-at-a-time’ attitude gave many people much to chuckle at. Carolyn loved orcharding and had a deep affection for Lake Chelan, as many summers have been spent with family and friends at LCYC and the family cabin. She was able to bring her love of gardening to the City of Wenatchee when she was employed by the Parks & Rec Department. At home, she grew beautiful vegetables, which she generously shared with friends and neighbors. She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by family and friends.

Survivors include her husband, Newton; a son, Greg Parks and his family, Rose and Taylor; a daughter, Julie Jacoby and her family, Dutch, Rebecca and Jason, all of Wenatchee; her brother, Harm Schlomer of Spokane; and her sister, Linda Weiden of New Town, CT.

Graveside Services were held February 1, 2014, at Wenatchee City Cemetery, followed by a Celebration of Life at Cornerstone Christian Church. Jones & Jones~Betts Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
