Burial in Hudson Cemetery, Hudson, Iowa.
Larry K. McCulley,78 of Hudson died at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home on Sunday, January 26, 2014 of natural causes.
He was born December 29, 1935 in Iowa Falls, IA, son of George L. and Bernice A. Doescher McCulley. He graduated from Hudson High School in 1954.
Larry married Helen Myers in Waterloo, later divorced. Later he married Janette Chambers July 23, 1983 in Hudson.
He was a salesman for Heating and Cooling Supply Co. in Waterloo and retired in 1988. Later he drove for Bill Colwell Ford and was a school bus for NU High School. He was a member of Pilgrim Lutheran Church, where he served as a trustee. Larry was a member Cedar Valley Pistol and Rifle Club and PT Boats, Inc.- a non-profit ( in honor of his father who had been on a PT boat and Tenders during WWII.)
Over the years, he built model trains, ships and PT boats. Larry loved fast cars, motorcycles, being on race car pit crews and deer hunting and flying. In his younger years he was a paid catcher for fast pitch softball.
He is survived by his wife Janette McCulley of Hudson. His children: Dawn and Dennis Young of Hudson; Chris and Barbara McCulley of Hudson; Maurita and David Lubbers of Hudson. Grandchildren: Brett (Anna) Young, Brandon Young, Blake Young, Dakota Lubbers, Allan McCulley: Bridget McCulley and Danielle McCulley. Great Grandchildren: Blaiklee Schatz, twins Cedric and Cecilia Young. Sisters: Laureen and Dean Schmitt of Hudson and Lea Olson of Hudson.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents.
