It is with sorrow that we report the death of Peter Cournoyer who was stricken with a heart attack and passed away at his home at 11 o'clock a.m. on August 28th.

Peter Joseph Cournoyer was born near the old town site of Wheeler, South Dakota on December 3rd 1877. He was the son of Bruno Cournoyer a pioneer and freighter of the middle wester states. He obtained his education at Haskell, Kansas after which he settled with his parents, who moved from Wheeler to his present home at the north end of Lake Andes.

He was united in marriage to Ella Gilkerson on July 3rd 1908 and to this union were born eight children, Peter Joseph Jr. of Greenwood, South Dakota; Rosamonde Zahn of Eugene, Oregon Katherine Stansfield of Grants Pass, Oregon; Margurite Fideler of Delmont, South Dakota; Angela Marie who passed away at the age of thirteen years, and Gene, Robert & Emily who are home.

Pete was widely known and his friends could be counted by acquaintances. He was a talented musicial, being self-educated in this line and an artist on the violin as well as having other accomplishments.

Besides his wife and children he leaves to mourn his passing one brother, Chris of Eugene, Oregon, three sisters, Mrs. Emily Jackson who makes her home with the family. Mrs. Rose Primeau of Widow Rock, Arizona; Mrs. Angela Fiske, Ft. Yates, North Dakota and ten grandchildren.

Funeral Services were held at the home Monday mourning September 1st. The Rev. Father Frank of Marty officiated.

The pall bearers were Harry Sparks, Frank Farke, Fred Holbeck, Gerald McGrath, Dan McFarland and Oscar Carlson, Interment was made at Armour, South Dakota in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery.
