Funeral Rites Wednesday

John Brennan, Veteran Flagman, Answered Call Yesterday

Funeral rites for John Brennan, veteran flagman in the employ of the C.M. & St. Paul Railroad, who died yesterday at midnight as a result of a fall he sustained six weeks ago in Stanley Street, will be held from St. Mary's Church Wednesday morning at 9:30 o'clock and interment will take place in the Catholic cemetery.

He was a native of Ireland and was 85 years old at the time of death. He had lived in Rockford for over thirty years and was an employee of the C.M. & St. Paul railroad for forty years. Of late he had been stationed as flagman at the Elm Street crossing. His wife died about a year ago.

Four sons and two daughters survive to mourn the loss of a devoted father. They are Mrs. James O'Connor of Rockford and Mrs. Thomas Danaher of Chicago, Martin, Barney, John and William Brennan of this city. William Brennan is a member of Engine Co. No. 1, and is stationed at the central fire station.
