Jesse E. Rhodes 63, of Decatur, IL passed away at 2:33 p.m., Saturday January 25, 2014, in St. John's Hospital, Springfield, IL.
A service to celebrate Jesse's life will be at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, January 30, 2014, at Dawson & Wikoff Funeral Home, Mt. Zion with Pastor Dave Brown officiating. Burial will be in Point Pleasant Cemetery with full military honors provided by the Macon County Honor Guard. Memorials may be made to St. Jude's Childrens Hospital or Homeward Bound Pet Shelter. Jesse was born November 12, 1950, in Decatur, IL the son of Harlan and Lois (Moore) Rhodes. He married Sheryl L. Hinton on December 12, 1971.
He was a retired supervisor from Caterpillar Tractor Company. Jesse had served in the US Navy and was a Vietnam Veteran. He was a member of Central Baptist Church. He was a K.C.B.S. Certified BBQ Judge. He loved to garden and was an avid Chicago Bears fan. He loved his family and especially his grandkids. He will also be missed by his canine pal: Max.
Surviving is his wife: Sheryl of Decatur; sons: Eric Rhodes and his wife Brooke of East Peoria, Il and Kevin Rhodes and his wife Cassidy of Arlington, TN; grandchildren: Brycen Rhodes of East Peoria, Tanner Rhodes, Ryleigh Rhodes and Abigail Rhodes all of Arlington, TN; sister: Deby Benton of Decatur; special nieces and nephews: Stacy Hinton and Ryan Hinton and his wife Teresa.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters.
