Sande A. Ayers, 73, of Millport, died suddenly on Friday, January 24, 2014 at Arnot Ogden Medical Center. He retired from the IBEW 139, and was a counselor at Monterey Shock. Sande was the mayor of Millport for several years. He was a member of the Montour Moose Lodge, Old Oak Lodge, Millport Hunting and Fishing Club and was a 32 degree Mason. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Sherry; daughters, Desra Ayers of Millport and Sandra (Daryel) Tucker of Texas; sisters, Gretta (Terry) Donovan of Penfield, and Linda (Jose) Medina of Lowman; brother, Geo (Lucy) Ayers of AZ and Gary Ayers of Lowman; grandchildren, Kathryn Ayers, David Wagner, Jr., Rachael Spaulding, Cassie Tucker and Allen Wetmore; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, George and Donna Ayers and by his sister Sherry Krawczyk. Relatives and friends are invited to a memorial gathering on Saturday, February 1, 2014 from 1-4 p.m. at the Montour Moose Lodge, Rt. 14, Montour Falls. Burial will be in Millport Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Contributions may be made in Sande's memory to the American Cancer Society , American Heart Association or the Millport Fire Department. Arrangements are under the direction of Vedder and Scott Funeral Home in Montour Falls.
