Curtis Gean Price affectionately known as "Captain Curt" and "Stonewall" was born on July 24, 1953, to Rosie Lee Price and Will Curtis Price in Conway, Arkansas.

As a youngster, he came to Kansas City, Missouri and attended Yeager and ‘Greenwood, Elementary Schools. He later attended Lincoln Junior High School. He then attended Lincoln and East High Schools.

Curtis enlisted in the United States Navy on August 24, 1970, where he received his GED. He was discharged with honors from active duty August 21, 1972 and transferred to the Naval Reserves.

Curtis met Jewellena Elizabeth Chapple in September 1972, and they married April 12, 1973.

He joined Palestine Missionary Baptist Church and was baptized under the late Pastor Earl Abel. Curtis was always proud to say the he knew Reverend Leonard Butler as a youngster,

Curtis was a person of many talents and laborious. He received his diploma from the Farrell Academy Barber Styling and Hair Design in 1976 and he worked as a barber at Northern Barber and Beauty Shop. Later he would work for the city of Kansas City, Missouri as both an animal Control Officer and as a Sanitation worker. He also worked for Ferrellgas where he handled propane tanks until he became disabled.

Curtis Gean Price died Friday, January 17, 2014, in Kansas City, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his mother and father; sister, Rosemary Roper; brothers, Christopher Eric Price and Shelby Lee Price.

Those left with cherished memories include: his devoted wife of forty years; his daughter, Jaquetta Payne (Charles); two sons, Curtis Price, II (Mandisa) Justin J. Price; two grandchildren, Charles Payne, Jr. and Alexander Payne; sister, Patricia Taylor (Melvin) of Georgia; brothers, Lee Price (Donna) of California, MO, Richard Price, Frankie Price both of Kansas City, MO, Stephen Price (Tonya) of California, MO and Will Curtis Brown of Kansas City, MO; loving mother-in-law, Myra Chapple; aunt Bertha Lee Carr; sisters-in-law, Myrna Henson, Dicie Branch (Ronald), Lillian Lewis (Ronald) Linda Chapple (William); brother-in-law, Josh Chapple; special in-laws, Stanford Phillips, Mamaka Pettiford and countless nieces, nephews, cousins and other family and friends.

Services for Mr. Price will be held 11:00 A.M. Saturday, February 1, 2014, at Palestine Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Leonard P. Butler, Jr. officiating. Burial in XII Gates Memorial Gardens. Friends may call from 9:00 A.M. until service time Saturday at the church.
