Henry Walter of Moses Lake, born February 25, 1905 in Odessa to Conrad and Anna Marie Walter, passed away July 5 at Crestview Convalescent Center in Moses Lake.

Raised in the Odessa-Ritzville area where he his parents were farmers. Mr. Walter worked in farming as a young man, later working as a mechanic in Ritzville. During World War II, he was in the Army, serving at the Battle of the Bulge. A bronze star recipient, he was honorable discharged in 1945, and returned to Ritzville and his job as a mechanic.

After he married Alto Reich in 1948, they moved to Marlin, where they farmed for 12 years before moving in 1961 to Moses Lake. there they had a farm raising cattle and alfalfa until he retired in the early 1970s.

Preceded in death by his parents and three sisters, Mr. Walter is survived by his wife, Alto, in Moses Lake; by two sons, John Mitchell of Spokane and Dale Reich of Moses Lake; by a daughter Louise Kallenberger of Royal City; by five sisters; Loretta Pankow of Rochester, Martha Koch and Alma Koch, both of Wenatchee, and Hannah Ils an Helen Zeimer, both of Ritzville; by a brother, Sam Walter of Wenatchee; by 13 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and by numerous nieces and nephews.
