Three CiCi's Pizza restaurants, two in Topeka and one in Lawrence, owned by a 52-year-old homicide victim remained open Friday and will continue to operate, a manager said.

Harold "Hal" M. Sasko was found dead with traumatic injuries late Jan. 17 at his Lawrence home, 2905 W. 26th, while police were looking for a missing woman, Sarah Brooke Gonzales McLinn, 19.

Sasko and McLinn had been living at his home.

Sasko owned two CiCi's Pizza locations in Topeka and one in Lawrence.

The investigation into the whereabouts of McLinn and the death of Sasko is ongoing, said Lawrence police Sgt. Trent McKinley.

"No label has been placed yet," on McLinn, McKinley said.

She could be a victim, witness, suspect or none of the above, McKinley had said earlier in the week.

Erik Mitchell, with Frontier Forensics in Kansas City, Kan., completed Sasko's autopsy, but the results aren't available because his death is still under investigation, Frontier Forensics said Friday.

Sasko moved to Topeka from Plano, Texas, in the late 1990s with his then-wife, Anne, and their then-3-year-old daughter, Amanda, according to a 1999 Topeka Capital-Journal article.

Sasko was born in Titusville, Fla, said his youngest brother, Glenn Sasko, who remains in Florida. Hal Sasko was the 10th child among 12 children. Glenn Sasko is the youngest. There were eight boys and four girls, he said.

"We were close," Glenn Sasko said Friday via telephone. "He was a great guy. He was a Type A person. He was the one who folded socks. He was management material."

After Sasko attended college for two years in Oklahoma, he got into the pizza business through a friend, The Capital-Journal article states. Sasko worked at the company's corporate headquarters in Carrollton, Texas, for two years before making the move to open new stores for the company.

Sasko was cremated, and his ashes were transported to Tennessee, Glenn Sasko said. The family is planning a service in Florida, too.

A local memorial service also will take place in coming days, said Cyle Ossiander, a CiCi's manager who has taken over operations of all three CiCi's restaurants. Ossiander is helping make arrangements for the service.

When asked if the businesses will be sold, Ossiander said, "Right now, we can't talk about it."

"We are taking care of our communities and our customers," he said.

Some of Hal Sasko's family members have traveled to Kansas to help cover shifts at the CiCi's, Glenn Sasko said.

Family members and friends of McLinn, who attended Shawnee Heights High School before graduating from Topeka High School in 2012, gathered for a prayer vigil Wednesday at St. David's Episcopal Church, 3916 S.W. 17th.

Anyone with information regarding the investigation can call Lawrence police at (785) 832-7509 or Douglas County Crime Stoppers at (785) 843-8477. Calls to Crime Stoppers may be made anonymously, and callers with information leading to an arrest may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.

Update:
