Susan C. Zimmerman, age 75, of Elm Mott, passed away early Sunday morning, January 26, 2014 at Providence Hospital in Waco.

Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m. Friday at the Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel in West, with Joe McCulloch officiating. Burial will follow at White Rock Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Zimmerman was born August 13, 1938 in La Marque, the daughter of Joseph Milton Tayloor and Vera Almeta (Gaston) Tayloor.

She attended school in Elm Mott and was a graduate of Connally High School prior to attending 4-C Business College. She served her country in the United States Marine Corp.

On September 12, 1961 she was united in marriage to James L. Zimmerman in Waco. He preceded her in death on January 2, 1996.

Susan was a hairdresser and prior to that was employed by Woolco and Dillard's Department Stores. She was a member of Texas Cherokee Tribe. She enjoyed fishing, crafts and taking care of her chickens and ducks.

Susan is also preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Joseph Taylor.

Survivors include her son, Johnny Zimmerman of Elm Mott; a sister, Barbara Hackett; grandchildren, Kayla Castesida and husband Nicholas, Stephen Zimmerman and wife Crystal, and Shana Zimmerman; a special friend, Donna Garde; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends

Pallbearers are Ricky Grones, Ronnie Grones, Ricky Grones Jr., Matt Grones, Sidney Smith and Jerrot Kuehne.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Cherokee Land Fund, % Ron Trussel.
