Ray married Gladys Lambert on June 17, 1922 at Redfield, Spink County.

He was survived by his wife, two daughters, Nancy Beardemphl of Ashton and Marilyn Mason of Arvada, Colorado, one son, Raymond of Valley City, North Dakota, seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, two brothers, Vernon and Robert, both of Ashton and one sister, Ina Payne of Denver, Colorado.

He was buried at Ashton Cemetery on March 6, 1976.
