Korean War veteran

Charles Chester Peyton, 82, died Sunday, January 26, at Manor Care Health Services.

He was born December 25, 1931 in Waterloo, son of Chester Freeman and Margaret Susan McCoy Peyton. He married Belva Williams in February of 1951 in Cedar Falls and they later divorced. He then married Joyce I. Homewood Iverson on July 10, 1974 in Galena, ILL. She died October 4, 2002.

Charles served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He worked at Rath Meat Packing Plant for thirty years and IBP for thirteen years. He was a life member of the V.F.W.

He is survived by two sons, Charles (Pat) of New Hampton and Tim of Sumner; a daughter, Joy (Randy) Brummond of New Hampton; two step-sons, Gary (Pam) Iverson and Dennis Iverson all of Waterloo; eleven grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren; a brother, Gary (Irene) of Waterloo; a sister, Marilyn (Carl ) Rechkemmer of Fairbank.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Joyce; a son, David; two daughters, Vicky Johnson and Sandy Hanson; a brother William and two grandchildren.

Services 10:30 A.M. Thursday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Full military rites will be conducted by the Waterloo Amvets Post 19 and Evansdale Amvets Post 31. Public visitation from 4-7 P.M. Wednesday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street. Visitation also one hour prior to services Thursday at the church.
