Anna Krick Auen of Denison was the daughter of Herman and Anna (Stein) Bohlen. She was born March 2, 1918, in Akron . She was baptized in the Methodist faith. Her father died December 1918 due to the flu epidemic. Her mother was not able to financially care for her nine children so Anna was adopted by George and Della Fenn in 1919. The 1925 Iowa state census enumeration suggests that Anna's first name given by her adopted parents was Arretta, after the name of her adopted maternal grandmother. Anna graduated from Moville High School. She moved to Schaller with her parents, where she met Roy Krick and they were married, August 2, 1936. To this union was born three daughters, Sharalyn, Marilyn and Karen. They lived in Schaller for 46 years.

Roy passed away in 1982. Anna then moved to Cherokee, residing there until moving to Denison, where she married Les Auen in September of 1993. Les passed away in 1997.

Anna worked at Andy's Cafe in Schaller for 32 years, and at Central Popcorn Company for several years.

She was a member of Schaller Methodist Church, and later joined the Presbyterian Church in Denison.

Anna was avid bowler, bowling on leagues with her friends for many years. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and a volunteer in the Ground Observer's Corps in the 50s.
