Services for Nelson A. Bliss set for Thursday
Nelson Asher Bliss, 61, of Wesley, died unexpectedly Sunday, June 29, 1986, in his home.
He was born Oct. 7, 1924, in Napoli, a son of Nelson A. and Eva Averill Bliss.
Mr. Bliss was a World War II veteran, serving overseas, and he owned and operated a dairy farm in Wesley with his son, Robert, since 1947. He worked for Peter Cooper Glue Co., Gowanda, for many years and was a member of Dunkirk Bowling Association, Gowanda Grange, and Wesley United Methodist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Bernice May Allen Bliss; a daughter, Linda D. Case; a son, Robert A. Bliss; three grandchildren: Jennifer Lynn Bliss, Richard James Lewis, Angela Christine Bliss; and four sisters: Gertrude De-Young of Brocton, Anna Lockwood and Lorena Seaton, both of Little Valley, and Carrie Case of Buffalo.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters: Alice Shenefiel, Lorraine Bliss and Helen Wilcox.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in Wesley United Methodist Church. The Rev. Jonathan Smith, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Park Lawn Cemetery, Wesley.
Mentley Funeral Home, Gowanda, is in charge of arrangements.
The family suggests memorials may be made to Wesley United Methodist Church, Wesley.
