CULLMAN COUNTY, AL - The Cullman County officials are calling the death of a hunter Sunday, "a tragic accident."

Thomas Tucker, Jr., 37, was killed Sunday afternoon in the Crane Hill area of Cullman County. According to a county official, Tucker was hunting with family and friends near County Road 202 and the Big Bridge area, across Smith Lake, when one member of the group killed a deer. The friend, related to the victim by marriage, then fired a second shot into some underbrush believing it was the deer thrashing and instead killed Tucker. Officials say both men had their hunter orange on when the incident happened.
