Goodwin, who states DOB as Sept 4, 1822 in Anderson District, S.C, has a CSA pension application on line in the GA archives. He says he enlisted in 1861 and served with Company D of the 2nd South Carolina Rifles. He was in the hospital at the time of the surrender. Proof of his death on Jan 19, 1901 is included and his wife (2nd?) Mattie M. Goodwin applied for his last pension for his burial.
