Mary was born in the farming community of Lebanon, South Dakota on October 2, 1921.

In 1941 she met her husband Harold while he was in military training at a nearby army base. They were married in Lebanon when Harold returned from Europe in 1945.

Mary and Harold settled in Willington, CT in 1945 where they raised two sons, James and Robert.
In 1971 they moved to Putnam, CT where Mary resided until moving to Overlook Life Care Community in 2007.

In Putnam Mary was a long time member of St Mary of the Visitation Catholic Church, and while at Overlook was a member of St. Joseph's Parish.

Mary was an excellent cook and outstanding baker – her cookies and pies – and especially the cherry butter cake - were the hit of any party.

Mary also was known for her knitting, sewing, and rug braiding. The family still uses rugs she braided in the 1950's; family and friends treasure her knitted sweaters and baby blankets.

She also loved to play cards and chat over dinner with her new friends at The Overlook, while staying in touch with old friends from Putnam, especially through the guild at St. Mary's Church.

Her funeral will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 29th, at 10:30am in The James C. Nicoll Chapel at the Overlook Masonic Life Care Community, 88 Masonic Home Rd., Charlton. Burial in Grove Street Cemetery, Putnam, CT, will be private. Calling hours will be held in the Daniel T. Morrill Funeral Home, 130 Hamilton St., Southbridge, on Tuesday, Jan. 28th, from 5:00 to 7:00pm.

Thank you DANIEL T. MORILL FUNERAL HOME for this obit.
