In his childhood, he worked as a bag boy at Kroger's in Napoleon and left to serve in the US Navy. Upon returning he came back to Kroger's to become the Produce Department Manager. Eventually he worked for the City of Napoleon Water Treatment Plant until retirement. He was an active member of Christ United Methodist Church, Napoleon and helped construct the existing church and served on various church committees. He was a member of the Napoleon American Legion. He loved to golf and spend his free time working on various art and home projects. He enjoyed everything that involved his grandchildren and always followed all of their activities.
He is survived by his wife; Jean, son; Brent (Diana) Steele, Napoleon, grandchildren; Jason, Lindsey, Kelsey, Aubrey, Mackensey, and Megan Steele, and brother; Don (Barb) Steele, Napoleon. He was preceded in death by son; Boyd Steele.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 25 at Christ United Methodist Church, Napoleon with Pastor Mary Kay officiating. Interment will follow at Glenwood Cemetery, where military honors will be accorded by the Napoleon Joint Veteran Posts.
Visitation will be held on Friday from 2-8 p.m. at Rodenberger Funeral Home, Napoleon and 1 hr prior the funeral at the church on Saturday.
Family suggests memorials be given to Christ United Methodist Church or a charity of the donor's choice.
