Ruth E. Oxley, 86, of Muscotah, KS died Sat. Jan. 25, 2014 at the Horton Hospital, Horton, KS unexpectedly.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, Feb. 1, 2014 at the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home with Rev. Joseph Masqua officiating. The body has been cremated and burial of the cremated remains will be at a later date in the Muscotah Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 pm on Sat. Feb. 1, 2014 at the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home who is handling the arrangements. Memorial contributions are suggested to help with funeral expenses and may be sent in care of the funeral home. Ruth was born on April 4, 1927 in Leavenworth, KS. the daughter of Elmer F. and Miriam J. (Newman) Jones. She worked several places including waitressing and cooking. She enjoyed cooking, raising flowers, playing bingo and going to the Casino, but being with family was her number one enjoyment.
She was married to Melvin Oxley on July 21, 1944 in Atchison, KS. Mr. Oxley preceded her in death on June 19, 2008. Survivors include a son, Melvin J.F. Oxley, Muscotah, KS., three daughters, Mary (Richard) Books, Topeka, KS., Linda Oxley, Muscotah, KS., and Carolyn Koch, Topeka, KS., a sister, Betty Perkins, of Texas, twelve grandchildren, twenty two great grandchildren and twelve great great grandchildren. Her parents, a daughter, Jean E. Oxley, four brothers, and three sisters preceded her in death.
