Kathleen (Kalany) Benoit, 54, of Kent, WA passed away on Friday, December 20th, 2013 at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born to Paul and Marie Louise Standaert in Tielt Belgium on September 13th 1959. She was a graduate of both South Kitsap High School (1977) in Port Orchard and the University of Washington (1982) were she received a BS in Nursing.

She was married to Dan Benoit on December 10th, 1983 and recently celebrated 30 years of marriage. Kalany was a loving mother and wife, a dedicated nurse, and avid triathlete and tennis player. Her nursing career spanned 25 years much of which was spent as a nurse on the Burn ICU at Harborview Medical Center and most recently at the Polyclinic in Seattle.

She dedicated her life to her family and promoting good health and a positive attitude. She also enjoyed gardening, knitting and sharing herself with friends.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Therese and parents, Paul and Marie Louise. She is survived by her husband, Dan Benoit, sons, Matthew and Nick Benoit, daughter, Annelisse Benoit, brothers, Frank Standaert (Mary), Steve Standaert (Lori), sisters, Ann Bowden (Bill), Mary Rose Bellert (Michael), Carol Standaert, Monica Askins (Don) and Denise Firman (Rich), 16 Nieces and Nephews and 5 great Nieces and Nephews.

A memorial mass was held on Saturday December 28th, 2013 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Kent, WA and Kalany was buried at Holyrood Catholic Cemetery in Seattle, WA on Monday, December 30th.

The family would like to acknowledge the wonderful care of the physicians, nurses and team members of Seattle Cancer Care Alliance, UW Medicine and Providence Hospice for helping us through our journey the past 2 years.

We would also like to acknowledge the many acts of unconditional love shown to Kalany and the family by her friends during this time, you know who you are and you are forever in our hearts.

As a remembrance please consider an act of kindness towards someone while thinking of Kalany because as she often said, "Kindness matters" ...
