Emma Belle Curtis was the youngest child of Alexander G. Curtis and Marien Jane Holler. She was born in the Beaver Creek area of Fremont County where her parents were engaged in ranching and farming. She married Fredrick Wilson "Fred" Fowler (1877-1944) circa 1906 in Colorado; probably at Eldorado Springs, Boulder County. She and Fred did not have any children. They were married until Fred died in 1944. Fred was one of the developers of the Eldorado Springs resort and a local Denver area businessman. Emma Belle Curtis took the name of Belle Curtis Fowler after her marriage.

Emma Belle's grave is just behind her parents' graves. The gravestone is inscribed "Sister -- In Loving Memory -- Belle Curtis Fowler -- Jan 16, 1882-Jan 9, 1948".
