The Wales, Select Births and Baptisms, 1541-1907 records show Elizabeth Thomas was baptized on the day of her birth May 12, 1813 at the Tabernacle and Bethel Independent, Bridgend and Coychurch Higher, Glamorgan, Wales. Her father is John Thomas and mother Elizabeth Lewis. Yet, her headstone in the Spanish Fork cemetery shows the year of birth as 1816, as does the cemetery records.

The Breconshire, Wales marriage index shows she married Edward Roe (Rowe) March 15, 1835 at Llanely, Breconshire, Wales. According to Family Search, they have six children: [01] Edward Davis Rowe born in 1830 and dies in Pennsylvania. [02] Eleanor Rowe born in 1835 and died in 1914 in Wales. [03] John Rowe born in 1842 in Wales and died in 1907 in Utah. [04] Thomas John Rowe born September 13, 1843 in Wales and died in Pennsylvania in 1870. [05] Lewis Rowe born April 28 1846 in Wales and died in Salt Lake City, Utah July 3, 1905. [06] Owen John Rowe born May 12, 1850 in South Wales and died September 29, 1915 in Spanish Fork.

Their father dies February 11, 1860 in Aberystruth, Monmouthshire, Wales. Following his death, the boys and their families leave Wales and immigrate to the coal fields of Pennsylvania, before coming to Utah.

Elizabeth also leaves Wales; living a time in Carbondale, Pennsylvania, before taking permanent residency in Spanish Fork. On July 19, 1876 she married Phillip Sykes in Salt Lake City. Her life concludes with her death on January 5, 1888 in Spanish Fork.
