She is the direct descendant of William Bradford (our family line was proven on 02/18/14 GS# 86,222), William Brewster, Henry Samson, Myles Standish, John Alden and Richard Warren.
I have attached page 486 of the Genealogy and history of representative citizens of the commonwealth of Massachusetts book: Matilda is described as being of "Mayflower" Pilgrim stock and that she was a lady of rare qualities, an untiring assistant. By her constancy, faithfulness, and devotion great possibilities for usefulness were opened to her husband Rev. William Faunce.
The Faunce family is documented in other books too:
- The Faunce family history and genealogy; The ancestry and descendants of John Faunce of Purleigh, Essex, England, and Plymouth, Massachusetts
- Our Country and its People - Part 2
- Plymouth Memories of an Octogenarian
- Mayflower Marriages from files of George Ernest Bowman at the Massachusetts Society of Mayflower Descendants
- Ancient Landmarks of Plymouth - Part 1 (Historical Sketches)
- General Registar of Plymouth Families
- Mattapoisett & Old Rochester History
- Vital Records of Rochester Marriages
- Vital Records of Rochester to the year 1850
- Records of William Spooner, of Plymouth, Mass., and His Descendants, Volume 1 By Thomas Spooner
There are numerous books that have been written about the Bradford Side - too many to mention. There are three books that are worth having in your library and they are called:
- The Mayflower Families #22 William Bradford (also called the Silver Book from the GSMD) that has our family documented from William Bradford to Matilda's Dad Josiah
- Plymouth's Faithful Pilgrim
- Of Plymouth Plantation 1620 to 1647 by William Bradford himself
More info to come....
