She was born Monday, Sept. 10, 1917, at Brooklyn, N.Y., a daughter of the late Stefano DeStefano and Giovannanina "Ginny" Ricci DeStefano.
On Sept. 16, 1942, at Cumberland, Md., she was married to James Calain Wood, who preceded her in death on Aug. 21, 1972.
She is survived by several nieces and nephews.
She was the last surviving member of her immediate family having been preceded in death by one brother, Aniello "Joseph" DeStefano; and two sisters, Catherine Bender and Felicia Belfoure.
She was a graduate of Saint Peters and Pauls Catholic High School at Cumberland, Md., had worked for the Celanese Corp. at Cumberland, Md., was a housekeeper for various families of the Elkins area, a cake decorator at the former Dutch Oven Bakery of Elkins, an avid artist and a homemaker.
The family will receive friends at Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Elkins today from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.
Final rites will be conducted from the funeral home chapel on Friday, May 9, at 11 a.m.
The Rev. Dr. Basil A. Hensley will officiate and interment will follow in American Legion’s Little Arlington Cemetery at Cravensdale.
