She after Post Oak School in Augusta she moved to Houston and married Leo Ward, Sr.

She had seven children Leo,Jr.,Joe, Kay, Michael, Patricia , Kevin and Napoleon Ward; one stepdaughter Linda.
She had two sisters-Maxine White and Lottie Duncan and one brother-William Smith.
