Janye Hart Whitlock, 84, passed away in Dallas, Texas, on Saturday, January 25, 2014. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, January 28, 2014, in the J.E. Keever Mortuary of Ennis. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, January 29, 2014, in the Knights of Honor Cemetery in Blossom, Texas.

Janye was born in Blossom, Texas, to the late Adrian Alexander and Helen (Hickey) Hart. She grew up in Blossom, graduating from Blossom High School in 1945. On February 5, 1949, Janye married Leonard T. Whitlock and they made their home in Ennis.

She worked for Citizens National Bank as a teller for many years. Janye was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church. She also loved church services at Sterling House while she was a resident there. Janye and Leonard enjoyed camping at Roaring River State Park in Missouri.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Whitlock on August 19, 2008; and a sister.

Survivors include son, Tom Whitlock, of Lancaster; daughter, Jeannie Dickerson, of Tulsa, OK; granddaughter, Jessica Dickerson Zimpel and husband, Doug; great-granddaughter, Calliope Jayne Zimpel; niece, Kaye Kaufman; and nephew, Bob Turner.
