From the obituary in the Tuesday, June 6, 1922 Sparta Herald:

" Minnie Alice Arnold De Bruin, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. M. Arnold, was born April 26, 1870 in Leon Valley, Wisconsin, where she spent the days of her childhood. She moved with her parents to Sparta in the spring of 1893. On October 3, 1899 she was united in marriage to Dr. Fred De Bruin. They established their residence on North Chester street in the city of Sparta where they have since resided and where Mrs. De Bruin died on Monday, May 29.

Mrs. De Bruin is mourned by her husband, Dr. F. De Bruin, her two daughters, Miss Alice De Bruin, her two daughters, Miss Alice De Bruin who graduates this year from Beloit college, and Florence who is a member of the graduating class of Sparta Herald High School, her father, Mr. A. M. Arnold, two sisters, Mrs. B. E. Sturdevant of Minneapolis, and Mrs. V. F. Warke of Belleville, Wisconsin, two brothers, Eugene and Clyde Arnold of this city, and many other relatives and a host of friends and neighbors who had visited her constantly during her illness.

Mrs. De Bruin was a fine Christian woman, with an abiding faith in the Eternal life. She strove hard to live that she might see her daughters graduated from school. A week ago she realized that the end was not far away. On Monday death relieved her from the long struggle and suffering. Through all her long illness Mrs. De Bruin endeavored to be cheerful and hopeful and her faith was inspiring to many.

Funeral services were held from the residence on Thursday afternoon at three o'clock, Rev J. S. Morris, pastor of the Congregational Church officiating. Internment in Woodlawn cemetery. Members of the Order of the Eastern Star attended in a body."
