Whiteville: Doris Louise Williams High, 78 of Whiteville died Saturday, January 25,2014 at the Lower Cape Fear Hospice Center in Whiteville. She was the daughter of the late Pinkney and Louise Hewett Williams of Clarendon in Columbus County and was preceded in death by her son; Danny Norris. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Whiteville and also attended Pleasant Plains Baptist Church. She was a former Registered Nurse at the Loris Community Hospital, Loris, S.C. for many years.
She also enjoyed landscaping work and directing weddings. She was a 1953 Graduate of Williams Township High School.
She was a member of the quality control staff at the former Comprehensive Home Health Care and was sales leader for an insurance company.
Survivors include her husband; Robert O."Bob" High , Jr. of the home; her son, William Frederick "Freddy" Norris of Whiteville ,N.C.; two Step-daughters, Lisa Brown of Clayton and Sigrid High of Raleigh,N.C.; a stepson, Staffan High of Wilmington; and four step-grandchildren, Camille Brown and Samuel Brown of Clayton, and Hallie High and Ian High of Wilmington; a sister, Janice Gore ; and a brother, Kenneth Williams, both of Whiteville.
Funeral service will be Monday, January 27,2014 at 2:00 p.m. at the Pleasant Plains Baptist Church with Dr. Dave Heller and Rev. Josh Bower officiating with burial following in the Whiteville Memorial Cemetery.
