Roberta Joann Miller Opyt, 80, of Lafayette, died 7:28 am Friday, January 24, 2014 at IU Health Arnett Hospital. Born February 27, 1933 in Frankfort, she was the daughter of the late Chester and Hazel (Stowers) Gunion. Joann was raised in Frankfort, lived in Brookston, Hancock, MN and Lafayette.
Joann worked as a housekeeper for the Radison Hotel and St. Anthony's Nursing Home. She enjoyed the flowers on her deck, ceramics and was a member of the VFW.
Surviving with her husband John Opyt, are one son Michael Miller of Hancock Minnesota, two daughters Susan (Allen) Benson of Hancock Minnesota and Cindy (Lloyd) Beyer of Holloway, Minnesota. One sister Lola (Richard) Miller, three brothers Larry Gunion of Lafayette, Jerry Gunion of West Lafayette and Steve (RuthAnn) Coffman of Tennessee . Eleven grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren.
Preceded in death by her first husband Raymond H. Miller and sister Jean Conkright. Dr. Clayton Kendall officiating. Burial to follow at
Tippecanoe Memory Gardens.
