Mrs. Queen Bowers Brown of Marianna, Florida transitioned from life temporal to life eternal on Tuesday, March 12, 2013 in Jackson Hospital.

Mrs. Brown was a member of the Saint James African Methodist Episcopal Church. She was a dedicated church member. Mrs. Brown was an Area Chair and Y.P.D. Director and President of the Lay Organization. She retired from the Jackson County School Board in 1990 where she served as the Director of Title One.

Mrs. Queen Bowers Brown was a community activist. She served as Grand Marshall for the Martin Luther King Parade in 2012. She was a life member of the WMS, Friendship Community Garden Club, and the NAACP. Mrs. Brown was also a member of the Florida A & M University National Alumni Association and Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated. Mrs. Queen Bowers Brown authored the book "My Journey".

Celebration of Life Services will be held on Saturday, March 23, 2013 at 11:00 AM from the sanctuary of the Saint James African Methodist Episcopal Church where the Reverend Ronald D. Mizer is the pastor. Interment will be in the Orange Hill Cemetery in Marianna, Florida. The family will receive friends at Vann Funeral Home on Friday, March 22, 2013 from 6:30 PM to 7:30 PM. Mrs. Brown will lie in repose at the church from 10:00 AM until time for the service. Vann Funeral Home in charge.

She leaves to cherish a lifetime of fond, yet precious memories, a loving and devoted family: One Daughter: Attorney Harriet Brown Birk and husband Edward of Orlando, Florida One Son: Amos "Pat" Brown, Jr. and wife Priscilla of Pensacola, Florida Two Grandchildren: Derrick Brown and Trevor Brown of Tallahassee, Florida Three Sisters: Dr. Doris Herring and husband Wesley; and Mrs. Glynette Brown both of Bascom, Florida; and Mrs. Morrise Blaine of Hyattsville, Maryland Five Brothers: Attorney Theodore Bowers of Panama City, Florida; Horace C. Bowers, Andrew Bowers, Jr., and Dr. Mirion P. Bowers of Los Angeles, California; and Reverend Wallace Bowers of Tampa, Florida And numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many dear friends.
