Miss Callie A. Mizell, 82, respected member of a pioneer Jackson family and a lifelong resident of this city died here yesterday after a short illness, death overtaking her at the home of her niece, Mrs. Mamie M. Rice, 742 Roseneath. Miss Mizell was a daughter of Captain A. Mizell and Mrs. Anna Gibbon Mizell, prominent and highly regarded residents of this city for many years.

In a quant little vine-covered house on South Farish street, near the crossing of the old A. and V. Railroad, Miss Mizell was born, November 6, 1846, and until the time she contracted her fatal illness, lived continuously in this location, a structure which became in passing years a well known landmark in the growing city. Deceased was from girlhood a devoted and consistent worshipper of the Episcopal church, and her lofty ideals and strength of character earned the respect of all who knew her.

Funeral services will be conducted this afternoon from the residence of her niece, Mrs. Rice, at 742 Roseneath, the Rev. Dr. Walter B. Capers, rector of St. Andrews Episcopal church officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood cemetery. Besides Mrs. Rice, two other nieces survive, Mrs. Annie M. Stewart of Jackson and Mrs. Marguerite Little of little Rock, Ar.

Pall bearers for the funeral will be: R. H. Green, Wiley P. Harris, Amos R. Johnston, Cyril Hart, Sam R. Virden, George B. Power, E. S. Middleton, and J. C. Broyles. Funeral arrangements are in the hands of the Tom E. Taylor Funeral Home.
