Celebrates 100 years
Mary Pickelsimer McCrary, resident of the Lane Wing, Pardee Hospital, celebrated her 100th birthday, Sunday, August 8, at the home of her sister-in-law, Flora Pickelsimer, in the Little River Community in Transylvania County.
McCRARY was born August 9, 1899, in Transylvania County. She has been a resident of Henderson County for 78 years.
She was married for 62 years to the late Frank B. McCrary, Sr.
Her children are Rex McCrary and Enie Pace both of Hendersonville, and the late Frank B. McCrary, Jr. She has seven grand children, eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Mary Pickelsimer McCrary, 101, of Hendersonville died Monday, June 18, 2001, at Pardee Hospital in the Lane Wing.
She was a native of Transylvania County and lived most of her life in Henderson County. She was the daughter of the late L.A. Grant Pickelsimer and Elmina McCall Pickelsimer. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank McCrary Sr., who died in 1980; a son, Frank McCrary Jr.; two grandsons, Benny and Billy McCrary; and a daughter-in-law, Alice McCrary.
She was a member of the Little River Baptist Church since 1913.
Survivors include one son, Rex McCrary of Hendersonville; one daughter, Enie Pace and her husband, Finley Pace Jr., of Hendersonville; daughter-in-law, Jenny McCrary of Hendersonville; two sisters-in-law, Love Hamilton and Flora Pickelsimer; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be conducted at 4 p.m. today in the Crab Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Harold McKinnish officiating. The family will receive friends from 3 p.m. until the time of the service.
