WHITNEY, Loretta Irene (née Brewer) - Passed away August 11, 2005 at home in San Jose from complications of a stroke. Loving mother of Victoria Whitney of Sacramento and Renee Janosch of San Jose. Adoring grandmother of Katheryn Landau, with whom she shared her love of musicals, and Steven Landau, with whom she shared her love of animals. Missed by her sons-in-law, Kenneth Landau and Robert Janosch. Survived by sisters, Julie and Karen Brewer and Kathy Larson; brothers, Norman and Dennis Brewer; many nieces and nephews, and the many people whose lives she touched. Loretta was preceded in death by her husband, George Whitney; parents, Paul and Mercedes Brewer; sister, Pamela; and brothers, David and Robert. Born in Albany, California in 1939, Loretta grew up in Oakland and graduated from Oakland High School. Loretta was a long time resident of Millbrae. For a time she resided in Sacramento. Loretta was a school bus driver in San Mateo County; she loved her job and the kids. Loretta was active in the Doberman Pinscher Clubs of Northern California and Sacramento, and taught dog training classes in San Mateo for many years. Loretta will be remembered for her generous spirit, loyal friendships, and tenacity. Private interment at Oakmont Memorial Park in Lafayette. We will be holding a public Celebration of Loretta Irene Whitney's life on Saturday, September 10, 2005 at Tilden Park, www.ebparks.org/parks/tilden.htm. The potluck begins at 11:30 am and will take place in the Fern Picnic Grounds (dogs and children encouraged to attend) and we hope you will bring photos to share and leave with the family. Following the picnic, you are invited to join us for a ride on the historic old-fashioned carousel built by craftsman Herschel Spillman in 1906 and was one of mom's favorites! In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Heartland Hospice, 2005 De La Cruz Blvd, Suite 281, Santa Clara, CA 95050.
