Ona M. Piper, daughter of James and Emma Hocker Henson was born April 12, 1903 eight miles north of Bolivar. She died Tuesday, March 4, 1986 in the Bolivar Nursing Home at the age of 82 years, 10 months and 22 days.
She was united in marriage to Clifford A. Piper on May 28, 1922. He preceded her in death in 1982.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Lexie Merl; a grandson Carroll D. Evans; 5 brothers and 3 sisters.
A longtime resident of Humansville, she was a member of the Dunnegan Baptist Church.
She is survived by 1 son, J.C. Piper of Humansville; 2 daughters, Darlene Keith of Springfield and Carolyn Evans of Bolivar; a daughter-in-law, Elma Piper of Humansville; two sons-in-law, Vance Keith of Springfield and Tom Evans of Bolivar; 1 sister, Etta Wheeler of Bolivar; 6 grandchildren, Sharon King and Becky Piper of Humansville, Valerie Stokes of Willard, Vanessa and Venecia Keith both of Springfield and Shawn Evans of Bolivar; 2 great grandchildren, Sherrie Gay King and Vance Lee Stokes.
Funeral services were held at 1 P.M. Friday, March 7 in Murray Chapel with Rev. Guy Lawyer officiating. Pallbearers were: Kenneth Morrison, Charles Piper, Carroll Piper, Robert Henson, Jerry King and Rodney Stokes. Burial was in the Payne Cemetery at Polk under the direction of Murray Funeral Home.
