Mrs. Betty Jean Shoats Jackson, age 62, 309 North Dooly Street, Montezuma, Georgia passed Wednesday morning, July 3, 2013.
Graveside service will be conducted 11:00 a.m., Saturday morning, July 6, 2013 at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, 321 Whiteline Street, Montezuma, Georgia. Minister Phillip Wayne Fowler will officiate.
Mrs. Betty Jean Shoats Jackson was born July 27, 1950 to the late George Shoats, Sr. and Mattie Ruth Bailey Shoats in Macon County, Georgia. She was educated in the public school system of Macon County whereas she acquired her high school education in the old historic D. F. Douglass High School Class of 1970. At an early age, she joined Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church, Montezuma, Georgia. She was a dedicated homemaker.
On May 8, 1983, she was united in Holy matrimony to the late Albert Jackson, Jr.
Survivors are her daughter, Felicia Ann Jackson (Christopher), Centerville, Georgia; four stepchildren, Angela Michelle Jackson, Americus, Georgia, Albert Jackson, III (Carla Baldwin), Anthony Wayne Jackson and Antarus Jackson, all of Oglethorpe, Georgia; three loving grandchildren, Caleb Lamar Jackson, Christopher Dale Jackson, Jr. and Chrishud Delivon Jackson; seven step-grandchildren; five step great grandchildren; two brothers, George Shoats, Jr., (Janie), Batavia, New York and Harold Shoats, Oglethorpe, Georgia; brothers-in-law / sisters-in-law, Landis Ogburn, Emma Jackson, Donald Jackson, Fredrick Jackson (Alice), all of Montezuma, Georgia, and Bernice Barrett (Arthur), Bronx, New York, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, including a devoted cousin and caregiver, Joyce Carson, Montezuma, Georgia, and a host of friends, including a devoted friend, Barbara Ann Lockhart, Montezuma, Georgia.
