Raymond August William Kasten passed away at his home in Marceline, Missouri on December 1, with his wife of eight years, Helen, at his side. Raymond was born in Carlinville, Illinois on August 26, 1932.
He was raised on a farm where his love for agriculture and livestock began. After graduating from Carlinville High School he was drafted into the United States Army, where he was a hero on the front lines during the Korean war. After serving his country Raymond attended the University of Illinois. He returned to Carlinville where he started a family and began a career in the Livestock, Nutrition business. Early in his career with Wayne Feeds he achieved top honors as the number one Salesperson. Later in his career his unconventional techniques and reputation made him sought after by other feed companies and farmers throughout the Midwest. His career and love for a new adventure found him residing in South Dakota, Nebraska and Missouri. He used all of these experiences to raise Grand Champion cattle for his son. After Ray retired he spent time living in Phoenix, but found it unbearable not living the rural way of life. He will be missed greatly.
