Funeral services for John Mark Dykes, 73, Arp, will be 2:00 pm, Sunday, January 26, 2014 at Cottle Funeral Home Chapel with Randy Dykes officiating. Burial will be in the Williams Cemetery, under the direction of Cottle Funeral Home, Troup.

Mr. Dykes died Wednesday, January 22, 2014 at Hospice of East Texas Homeplace, Tyler, after a very lengthy illness. He was born August 28, 1940, in Tyler, Texas to the late Houston Cross Dykes and Florence Viola King Dykes.

He served in the US Navy from 1959 to 1965 during the Vietnam Era and he was a Electrical instrument fitter.

He was preceded in death by three brothers and five sisters.

Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Danette and Steve Sublette, Whitehouse; grandchildren, Jessica Sublette and Jacob Sublette, Whitehouse; brother, Carol Dykes, Jacksonville; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and family.

Pallbearers will be Ralph Jolly, David Reed, Randy Dykes, Glen Dykes, Tommy Dykes and Randy Hunt.

Visitation for friends will be Saturday, January 25, 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm at the Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to The Hospice of East Texas Homeplace, 4111 University Blvd, Tyler, Texas 75701.
