Cindy Svaldi, 56, of Grand Junction, CO, passed away peacefully Tuesday, January 21, 2014, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Cindy was born June 8, 1957, in Grand Junction, CO, the daughter of John and Betty Horton Svaldi. She grew up in Ouray, Colorado and graduated from Ouray High School in 1975.

Cindy was a devout Catholic and attended Immaculate Heart of Mary in Grand Junction and transported the elderly to services on a regular basis.

Her greatest accomplishment in life was her son, Dylan Svaldi; he was her joy and her purpose for living. She surrounded herself with his outstanding artwork and her home was a place of joy and comfort to her son. Dylan is becoming an accomplished artist in Grand Junction and attends Colorado Mesa University in the art program.

Cindy was a strong and courageous person as well as loving and caring, with a great sense of humor and a smile for everyone she met. Cindy did whatever it took to make ends meet and maintained a positive outlook throughout her life.

She was also a friend to the animals, taking in stray animals and nurturing them and providing a loving home for the days of their lives.

Cindy is survived by son, Dylan Svaldi and his girlfriend, Julia Ennis; parents, John and Betty Horton Svaldi; sister, Kathryn Svaldi; brother, Steve Svaldi; niece, Emily Miller (Sutton); grandson, Wyatt, and nephew, Michael Svaldi (Maggie) and their children, Christopher and Garrett.

She was preceded in death by brother, Christopher Svaldi, sister, Cristy Svaldi, paternal grandmother, Noni Svaldi, maternal grandmother, Mae Horton, and maternal grandfather, Chet Horton.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 27, 2014, at St. Daniel Church in Ouray, Colorado, with interment at Cedar Hill Cemetery following the service.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Cindy Svaldi Benefit Memorial Fund at any Wells Fargo Bank.

May you rest in peace, knowing you are loved by many and free of any pain. We will miss you more than you can ever know. I love you more than anything, Mom.
