PIONEER OF MERIDIAN GONE TO HIS REWARD
Demise of Andrew Jackson Summy, Resident of Sutter County For Fifty-two Years
Andrew Jackson Summy of Meridian passed away Wednesday morning at 1:15 o'clock after an illness of a good many years. He was born in Versailles, Illinois, eighty-three yeras ago and was a veteran of the Civil War. He was married to Mary Catherine Wethers in Illinois and they came to California fifty-two years ago and settled near Meridian and have lived there ever since. He leaves besides his wife five children - Edgar Summy, Mrs. Reine Dickey and Mrs. Stella Saunders of Meridian, Mrs. Clara Turner of Arbuckle and Melvin Summy of Sutter City and three brothers, Leonidas and George Summy of Sutter City and Antone Summy of Meridian. The funeral will be held today, Friday in the M. E. Church at Meridian. Rev. S. Tamblyn of Colfax officiating. The family has the sympathy of a large circle of friends in their bereavement. His children were all at his bedside when he passed away.
