Ruby Lee Pope, 84, of Pensacola, FL went to her heavenly home on Tuesday morning, January 21, 2014. She was surrounded by her family.
She is preceded in death by her parents, William Taft Hinson and Ana May Wilson; her husband of 49 years, Arngie Pope, Sr, alongside whom she owned and operated Pope Electric Co.; one daughter, Betsy Tyree; one grandson, Matthew Winchell; three brothers and two sisters.
She is survived by four sons, Arngie (Aileen) Pope, Jr, Jerry (Susan) Pope, Stanley (Gena) Pope, Rusty (Saundra) Pope; one daughter, Julie (Mike) Winchell; one son-in-law, Gene Tyree; one sister, Hazel Lance; 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Ruby was a faithful member of Laurel View Baptist Church for over 50 years, where she served as a Sunday School Teacher and Choir Director. She loved her family and her church family. She enjoyed preparing wonderful meals for everyone she loved.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00am on Saturday, January 25, 2014 at Faith Chapel Funeral Home South with a service to follow at 11:00am. Reverend Allen Taylor will be officiating. Interment will be at Pensacola Memorial Gardens.
Serving as pallbearers will be Victor Pope, Tommy Hinson, Bill Greenblatt, John Cheney, Peter Fragale and Ryan Tree. Honarary pallbearers are Joe Caro, Arngie Pope III, Randy Strops and David Simmons.
